I don’t know about you but I’m a gadget freak. I love technology and all that it can do for me, but I do have to be careful because it can take up too much time I could be using on more pressing matters. Sometimes we feel we have to buy the latest and greatest software, hardware, phone, etc, to stay atop of our business, but that’s not always the case. Bill Gates, the man who has revolutionized our world, once said that technology should only be adapted if it will enhance your business. This is not the exact quote but it went something along that way. I’ve seen others buy equipment that they never needed just because some salesperson sold them on the idea. My wife keeps me in check, so we don’t make the same mistake. She’s still using a computer that’s got to be at least seven years old. It still works and she sees no need to change.
With that being said, technology really has especially changed the speed at which we do business. A perfect example was when we would fax our database a wholesale list of properties and it would take close to 24 hours to fax everyone. Thanks to today’s technology, it takes just seconds to email our wholesale list of properties to our entire database.
With technology advancing so quickly, it’s tough to keep up with it; that’s why I’m excited to introduce one of our newest contributors, Greg Russell, who is up on anything and everything technological. I’ve been hounding him for months to join us, but he had to first get married, go on his honeymoon, and get him and his bride settled in before he could commit. We’re glad to have him onboard and you can expect to see him writing monthly on technology and how it can benefit us as real estate investors. His first article is excellent, so be sure to check it out. We’re also welcoming a few more newcomers to the REIP family: Lex Levinrad, Greg & Ginny Pitts and Jason Rodriguez.
